Honours in Applied Signal Processing

Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering | B.Tech. (EXTC)

Applications of Signal Processing techniques are now predominant in diverse areas such as speech communication, image processing, computer vision, biomedical engineering, acoustics, radar, and many more. Thus, a thorough understanding of digital signal processing fundamentals and techniques is essential for anyone concerned with signal processing applications. The program of Applied Signal Processing covers the processing of both deterministic and random signals.

The efficiency of various signal-processing applications can be increased by implementing techniques of multi-rate signal processing. The major topics are random signal processing, multi-rate signal processing, and adaptive signal processing used in various applications. A laboratory course is included in this program to develop a simulation model of a specific application. The course on data compression helps to increase efficiency of applications.

Objectives

  • Understand techniques of random signal processing.
  • Understand data compression techniques for text, audio, image, and video data.
  • Generate a symbolic description of an environment from an image.
  • Understand techniques of speech and language processing.
  • Use simulation tools to build an application.

Learning Outcomes
