Energy engineers are tasked with the overall reduction of existing energy consumption and the improvement and development of technologies to produce energy more efficiently. Honour program in Energy Engineering provides opportunity to students to enrich their knowledge in the Energy field along with their major program for which they are admitted.

Curriculum of this honour program is designed to provide a required background for analyzing and designing; solar, wind, biomass, thermal, hydro, nuclear plants with energy system modelling and energy management. Numerous career opportunities will open up to students with energy honour degree in the energy sector such as; design and development engineer, operations engineer in power plants, energy consultant, energy auditor, business development engineer, project engineer etc.

Objectives

The objectives of this honour program are to produce graduates who:

  • Have ability to gain knowledge and develop skills in a range of specialized selective courses covering conventional and non-conventional energy sources during their honours degree program
  • Have ability to intern in the energy industry to gain career enhancing experience of the application of engineering principles.
  • Will established themselves as practicing professionals or pursued higher study in energy engineering
  • Have ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of the impacts of engineering solutions on society & environment.

Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of honours degree program in Energy Engineering student will be able to:

  • Design and analyze energy systems covering conventional and renewable energy sources.
  • Suggest measures for energy conservation and management in industry.
  • Practice as professionals by acquiring knowledge of energy systems and technologies.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who have passed First Year of B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering successfully.

Assessment Method

Tests, Laboratory, Presentation, Quiz, study of research papers, mini project, Industrial visit etc.
