From an entity with limited functional and programmable capacity design to move materials, a robot is now enhanced to perform a variety of tasks. Further strengthened with artificial intelligence, a robot is intelligent to perceive data from surrounding and to convert this data into insightful information. An introduction of AI techniques in robots has enhanced the paradigm of robotics from automation to robot with capability to exert autonomy. Artificially intelligent robots have evolved sensing, acting, planning, and learning capabilities. The application of Robotics and AI domain ranges from robot in humanoid form to AI enabled robotic assistance in medical and critical infrastructure domains.
With the aim to introduce such emerging field, KJSCE offers minor program on Robotics and AI. The scope of the program is to begin with fundamentals of robot and extend capacity building to build practical task performing robot. With this requisite knowledge to make functional robot, the program introduces courses on Artificial intelligence. The fundamental course on AI offers concepts including basics of AI to coverage of essential machine learning algorithms for classification and clustering data collected by robots. The course on advanced concepts of AI includes topics such as Convolutional Neural network (CNN) and Recurrent Neural network (RNN). These advanced techniques aim to solve the nonlinear problem of Robotics. The experience of attaining this minor program will be further elevated through project based learning.
