K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering offers a Master’s program in Robotics and Automation as this is an emerging and multidisciplinary area. The masters program in Automation and Robotics is designed to provide a broader foundation to become an ambitious engineer in an industrial environment. This will amplify career prospects thus opening employment opportunities in a variety of settings. With industries struggling to keep costs down by implementing more automation, there is a strong desire to hire people with a background in robotics and industrial automation, computer vision, computer integrated manufacturing, automation system design, aerial robotics and robotics in AR-VR.
By increasing automation through the use of sensors and configurable robots on the assembly line, ‘smart’ factories will be able to mass produce items satisfying individual customer orders and specifications. Efficiency in productivity and quality of the product can be improved through automation and Internet-of-Things (IoT). Need of the day is to map industry requirements into the existing educational system, develop a continuous knowledge cycle that provides skill orientation on new technologies.
