  • Abstract

In today's technological world, the information sharing is common and security of this information is the prime concern. The most important type of data shared and used on the internet are images. This paper presents the image encryption and decryption technique called as Layered Morphing, which is based on the concepts of image morphing and visual cryptography. Image morphing is seamless transition and transformation of an image into another image through technological means. Visual Cryptography is an encryption technique in which the image is divided into shares in which a single share does not show any information about original image, but when these shares are combined the original image is obtained. The proposed system secures the image by first dividing the image into different layers, second encrypting each layer using symmetric encryption and finally, allowing the user to store it in a distributed manner.
