Honours in Blockchain Technology

Computer Engineering | B.Tech (Comp)

Considering the significant opportunities for employment and innovation in this field, it is an appropriate time to introduce an Honours Programme in Blockchain Technology. The programme is designed to equip students with both theoretical foundations and practical skills required to design, develop, deploy, and manage blockchain-based applications and infrastructures.
The programme covers multiple blockchain development technologies, including smart contract development on platforms such as Ethereum, blockchain programming using Rust commonly used in ecosystems like Solana and Polkadot, and enterprise blockchain development using Hyperledger Fabric. The curriculum integrates modern blockchain development tools, decentralized application (DApp) development, Web3 technologies, and BlockchainOps practices, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in building and managing blockchain networks.

The last decade has witnessed rapid growth in digital transformation, decentralized systems, and secure online transactions, leading to the emergence of blockchain technology as a revolutionary computing paradigm. Blockchain enables transparent, tamper-proof, and distributed data management without relying on a central authority. With the growing adoption of blockchain in sectors such as finance, supply chain, healthcare, government services, and digital identity management, there is an increasing global demand for skilled professionals in blockchain development and decentralized systems.

Objectives

The offered programme aims to give the understanding of:

  • To provide students with strong foundations in blockchain technology, distributed ledger systems, and cryptographic principles, enabling them to design and develop secure decentralized applications.
  • To train students on industry-relevant blockchain platforms and tools, including smart contract development, decentralized application development, and enterprise blockchain deployment so that they become industry-ready professionals.
  • To equip students with practical skills in blockchain programming, Web3 technologies, and blockchain network deployment, enabling them to build scalable and secure blockchain-based solutions.
  • To enable students to pursue higher education, research, and innovation in emerging areas such as decentralized finance, blockchain security, and enterprise blockchain systems.
  • To encourage students to demonstrate professionalism, ethical practices, and responsible use of blockchain technologies while addressing real-world societal and industrial challenges.
  • To help students develop innovation, adaptability, teamwork, leadership, and effective communication skills while working on collaborative blockchain development projects and capstone solutions.

Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of this minor program an engineering graduates will be able to:

  • Develop proficiency in smart contract development and decentralized application (DApp) design using platforms such as Ethereum and modern Web3 technologies.
  • Apply programming skills to implement blockchain components using Rust-based blockchain development frameworks commonly used in ecosystems like Solana and Polkadot.
  • Design, develop, and deploy enterprise blockchain solutions using platforms such as Hyperledger Fabric for applications in supply chain, finance, healthcare, and digital identity systems.
  • Implement BlockchainOps practices including deployment, monitoring, and management of blockchain networks using modern container and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Evaluate the security, scalability, and performance aspects of blockchain systems, and apply best practices to build reliable and efficient decentralized applications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in teams to design, develop, and deploy real-world blockchain solutions, while adhering to professional ethics and effective communication practices.
