Abhiyantriki 2019, the technical extravaganza of innovation

Mumbai: 10th October 2019: K J Somaiya School of Engineering hosts, Abhiyantriki, the most awaited annual technical festival. Since its inception since 1998, the festival has grown exponentially. Started with an objective to increase technical awareness amongst students, it has successfully attracted thousands of students from various educational backgrounds and an even greater crowd from technical and engineering institutes across Maharashtra. It witnessed more than 15,000 footfalls last year and continues to grow each year. This grand tech fest is a two-day extravaganza that will begin today, 11th October and continue till the 12th October 2019.

For the first time, this year, Abhiyantriki will be graced with the presence of the Indian Navy with their arms and defence technologies. Alongside the Indian Navy, Nehru Science Centre and The Indian Meteorological Department will be exhibiting a diverse range of fascinating exhibits and mega projects.

Also will be seen a live demo and interaction with the world’s first Hindi speaking Robot ‘Rashmi’ which can speak in multiple languages besides Hindi including Marathi, Bhojpuri and English. Rashmi uses linguistic interpretation, artificial intelligence, visual data and facial recognition systems. She has been designed by a Ranchi based software engineer, Ranjit Srivastava.

Speaking of the festival Dr Shubha Pandit, Principal K. J. Somaiya School of Engineering said “Abhiyantriki, the technical festival of K. J. Somaiya School of Engineering, tries to capture the reach of technology by exhibiting few external projects as well as some internal projects of our students; developed either as a part of their academics or during internships or a few others which are the flagship mega projects of the college. Many of these interdisciplinary projects emulating real life situations also highlight the motto of the college ‘learning by doing’. The festival also gives the students an opportunity to showcase their abilities in working in teams, managing time & people. Since, there are many others from nearby schools and colleges who visit the exhibition during this time, students take a great pride in explaining the viewers about these projects. Many other activities are also conducted during this time.  The festival thus gives the students a platform to explore more, empowering them for their future endeavours”.

This year, Abhiyantriki collaborated with D.A.R.K. the auto expo, one of the most awaited events for automobile enthusiasts. It consists of different types of automobiles from vintage cars, supercars to superbikes. Visitors can view the diversity of technologies and modifications of cars and bikes.

Abhiyantriki will also consist of an internship expo, an excellent platform for students to obtain internships opportunities that can help them to acquire industry knowledge and experience in their desired field.

The festival will host distinguished speakers, like Padma Shri Dr Bikash Sinha, an expert in the field of nuclear physics who will speak on the topics- Cosmology, Mini Bang between two nuclei and the Big Bang with the students.
